皆さんお馴染みの『赤ずきんちゃん』の絵本です。Red Riding Hood (Ladybird Books, Grade 2)　

英語はすべて現在形でかなり易しいように見えますが、よくみると　mustn’t や　want to　もあり。しかし、英語読書入門としては適当な一冊ではないかと思います。

あらすじ
赤い帽子を被った女の子、赤ずきんちゃんは、病気になってしまったおばあちゃんをお見舞いに行った。そこには、布団を深くかぶり、また帽子をかぶって顔のよく見えない‘おばあちゃん’がいた。赤ずきんちゃんは心配そうにおばあちゃんに話しかけた。が、なかなか返事をしない。すると・・・‘おばあちゃん’が突然赤ずきんちゃんを襲ってきた。本当のおばあちゃんではなかったのだ。それはオオカミだったのだ。

The girl who wore a red hat, Little Riding Hood, went to her grandmother’s house to see her grandmother who was sick.　Her “grandmother was there, with a quilt and a hat on. Because of this, she couldn’t see her “grandmother’s face” well. The girl worried and talking to her “grandmother”, but she didn’t talk to her. Then, suddenly her “grandmother” came at her!! Actually, “grandmother” wasn’t her grandmother! It’s a wolf!!
